Paolo has been working in Belarus this week so Gio, Enzo and I have been on our own. Gio returned to school yesterday (much to the delight of BOTH of us!) and while it is not exactly warm here, there are finally signs of life returning with buds forming and some things popping up out of the soil. Even though we saw spring in full force a month again in Washington, it is strange to now watch it begin to happen all over again here. Some images from our week...
Our couch hog |
Enjoying a fried dough hot dog. This is a wildly popular window counter near our home. The "delicacies" are only 5UAH (about 60 cents). Often the line is around the block. |
This is why I have trouble convincing Gio that pants are a requirement for leaving the house. |
After over a year of resisting we are finally allowing Gio to ride the electric vehicles for rent at the park. Look out pedestrians and small dogs! |
Look what my very good friend Colleen brought us! Heaven for a US expat! |
As an antidote to the earlier fried-dough treat, I made Gio a wheatgrass, banana and blueberry smoothie. And he actually drank the whole thing!!!! |
Look! A photo that makes Enzo look small! |
Not this one.... |
Next week we depart for Italy to celebrate May Day and Paolo's birthday. Gio will take his 100th airplane ride on our way there. AMAZING!
And for those of you who would like to have a dog like Enzo, here is a link to our wonderful breeder who has a brand new litter. The puppies' father is also Enzo's so these are his half-brothers and -sisters! Anybody tempted??
